Originally from New Jersey, Fran began singing in high school after she was convinced by friends to sing in the talent show. She had planned to enroll in the military, but was later heard by local music producers and encouraged to start writing songs. After majoring in 'Computer Science' for one semester, Fran dropped out of college and came back to New York to pursue music. After spending time writing for other artists and performing as a backup singer on shows like "Good Morning America", she knew she wanted to pursue her own artist career.Knowing nothing or no one in music, she began gigging all over new york - train stations, cafe's, bar's - anywhere she could practice performing live. Fran released a few songs independently, which gained over 230,00 plays on Spotify, via her middle name "Yianna". Since the release of those songs, she began putting together a collective of musicians and producers in Brooklyn where they wrote, recorded, and produced her first full length project. She says jazz, 90's hip hop, and Motown were heavy influences for the production of the records. Using mostly live instruments, she says they recorded the project in a studio basement with broken equipment. The project is lyrically unfiltered, but highlights the feeling of being rejected, and ultimately finding self acceptance.
